Term 4 Wrap Up

Rat Trapping

In term 4 there was a rat trapping competition. The more pests you caught the more points you received. In the trapping competition, you had to make your own trap boxes. My sister and I both made a trap box. My rat trap caught 3 rat's and my sisters trap caught 1 rat. With 4 rats we came second. The prize for second place was $50.

Athletics Day

There was also athletics day. Athletics day is a day where you compete in 4 sports. The sports are sprints, high jump, long jump and ball throw. In long jump I came second to last. In ball throw I came 5th. In high jump I don't know what place I came. In the sprints I came fourth.

Just Dance

Just dance is normally in arcades. We did just dance a different way. We set a projector on a wall and copied the actions. Sometimes there is one with only one person and sometimes there is a just dance for 4 people. I liked just dance more than athletics day because I don't like high jump and long jump.

Turanga nui schools cultural festival!!!

On the 20.11.2019, as I was walking onto stage the crowd looked at our kapa haka group. The Turanganui Schools' Maori Cultural Festival was on at the Showgrounds.  We had practiced our Kapa Haka for three whole terms.  I didn't like doing practice every week, but walking onto the stage yesterday felt pretty good.

The piupiu made a rattling sound. I myself, and I think I am not the only one, to think that our singing was amazing. The actions where really strong. The haka was way too fast though. It was like super speed. The order of the songs we did our presetation in was Tu Mai Ra, Ka Pio Oi, Haeremai a Paoa, Utaina, Te Kura o Wainui e, Kamate haka, Wainui e and He Honore.

I think it went pretty good and I enjoyed watching the video of us. It was good because we had like a lot of clapping from the audience after every song we did. I also think it went well because we sounded all together when we were doing the haka.  I think I would like to be part of the festival again next year!

Marae Noho

Hi guys, welcome back. Last week we visited a marae. The marae was finished boulding in 1930. The marae has moved 3 times. It was a 3.2 million doller project. They told us that in the marae were 107 tiki's on the walls

On Thursday when we arived we had to wait for about an hour. Then finaly the lady came out and sang her song. Then there was a pohwiri. After the pohwiriwe ate lunch. We then had some rotations. my group did every single rotaion exept for walking. After that we made our beds. Then we had dinner. The food was nachos. It was my first time ever eating nachos. I thougt they would taste really yuk but at the end it was really yummmmmmm. Then we had our performance. My dad only came because my sister had to go to bed and my mum had to stay with her. After the performance we went to our beds. In our beds we had a little time to read or draw.

OnFfriday we packed away our beds. Then we would put our bags in a big hall and go to a court. At the court was Koka Ngaire. We had to do some runing. After the runing we ate breakfast. There was weet-bix, spagetti on toast and beans on toast. I ate weet-bix but I didn't put enough milk on them.

This is where we slept.

This is our Kapa haka group.

That is the top of the door.

Enlighten Me

Hi welcome back to my blog this weeks blog is about an expiriment in my reading group (again).
A mirror is a hard surface that reflects light. Reflections in a mirror are the object in the mirror is fliped around.

The scientist Isaac Newton, Robert Hooke and Albert Einstein all studied science. Light is matter or particals. Light travels in a staight line. But it can also bend. When light goes in a prism it separates into the colors of the rainbow. Red has the longest wavelength and violet has the shortest. Scientist still haven't decided what light is.

I learnt that a concave mirror makes the object that is in the mirror biger.

Here are photos of the scientist:

Sea Ice vs Heat

This week in my reading group we did an experement about ice melting. (In my reading group we do an experement nerly every week.)  If salt ice melt the water level stayes the same.

We ordered the pictures into the diffrent spheres. The diffrent names of the pheres are: Atmosphere, Biosphere, Geosphere and Hydrosphere. We figred out that if one of those is afekted the earth becomes unstable.

We blew up an inflatebel glowball. We hade to throw the ball between a budy. In this experement we figured out that 70% of the earth is covered in water and 30% is covered in land.

Term 2 Recount

This term our school topic was Retro Tech. My favorite thing this term was the trip to the East Coast Museum of technology. We went there because the museum had lots of old fire truks, milatary truks and it actually had a real jail. The museum also had lots and lots of old cars. The whole class went there.

Here are some pictures of the cars:

This term we also went into the life education truk. We watched some viedeoes and talked about our personality.

I am in this maht strand group. We made 3D shapes with marschmalos and cabab stiks.
